Hang on there summer! We can feel you slipping away. Your golden rays are casting a rich amber hue and there is coolness in your morning breeze. Please don’t go…we are not done with you yet. We want to savour a few last dips in our favourite swimming holes and feel the earth beneath our bare feet. Here’s a tribute to some of our fondest memories with you so far…
NIMMO BAY WILDERNESS RESORT
Family fishing time! The resort has a new vessel, The Kingfisher, that provides hours of saltwater fishing fun for the whole family. The expert guides know all the spots where the fish are biting. And it is also a great boat for bear viewing too. Fishing, bear viewing and a yummy picnic…the perfect recipe for a pleasant family outing in the Great Bear Rainforest. Some spaces are remaining for this October (you can even leave the kids behind and fish without them)! And 2018 is booking up quickly.
CHURCHILL WILD
Our guests at Seal River Heritage Lodge recently saw 11 polar bears on the SAME DAY! How cool is that? They saw mamma bears nursing their cubs and brash male bears strutting their stuff. It was truly a memorable day in the history of Churchill Wild. Check out the blog post. And if you want to see these beauties for yourself, there are very limited spots remaining for autumn of 2017, and 2018 is filling up fast.
PACIFIC YELLOWFIN
They’ve been having a whale of a time on the Pacific Yellowfin this summer. One lazy afternoon, guests witnessed a super pod of about 40 orcas! British Columbia marine life is experiencing a wonderful renewal. There are so many gorgeous aquatic mammals from frolicking dolphins to stellar sea lions to dazzling starfish to adorable sea otters to magnificent whales…you get the point! The boat is sold out for this year. Book now for 2018.
TWEEDSMUIR PARK LODGE
A true highlight of summer at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is the abundance of fantastic hiking in the region. They have it all, from easy saunters near the lodge to mind blowing heli hiking! This summer they have enhanced their heli excursion program and guests are raving about these ‘once in a lifetime’ alpine experiences in the pristine Coast Range. And this is the largest salmon run in years so they are anticipating an epic bear viewing season this fall. There are some coveted October spaces left on their Grizzly Bear Safari…so act fast if you are interested!
SIWASH LAKE WILDERNESS RESORT
The shimmering waters of Siwash Lake are an angler’s paradise. Remote and pristine, they provide both the perfect habitat for wild trout and a refreshing oasis of wilderness solitude. A Siwash highlight is reeling in playful 5-8lb rainbows after learning the fine art of fly fishing. Siwash has completed the season early this year owing to wildfires in the interior of BC, but stay tuned for some great new experiences to be launched later in 2018!
EXPLORE SIWASH
And we would like to sign off with some wonderful news. We are so pleased to announce that the British Columbia government has finally put an end to the Grizzly trophy hunt. We have been very vocal in advocating for the bears and would like to say a big thanks to everyone that pushed for this ban.
