Our lodges and their neighbours are an incredibly photogenic bunch…especially in the tangential autumn light. We’ve pored through tons of photos and selected a few of our favourites that capture the magic of this time of year.

PACIFIC YELLOWFIN

The Pacific Yellowfin finds herself sailing the majestic waters of the Great Bear Rainforest at this time of year. This 19 million acre area is the largest coastal temperate rainforest on earth. Wolves, cougars, bears, salmon, and whales roam amidst a backdrop of ancient cedars, firs and Sitkas. And the Spirit Bear lives harmoniously here too: check out this curious guy in the photo! Sail away with Captain Colin to the Great Bear Rainforest in 2018.

NIMO BAY WILDERNESS RESORT

Hiss. Crackle. Pop. Wrap yourself in a blanket, slide into a comfy seat, and enjoy a crisp autumn evening by the fire at Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort. There is nothing quite like it after a day of fishing, whale watching, bear viewing, kayaking, or walking in the woods. And you can repeat this same process the very next day. There are still a few spots left this October; find yourself around the fire.

CHURCHILL WILD

Look at this magnificent moose in the fall foliage snapped during a trip with Churchill Wild. Yes, the polar bear viewing on the Tundra is spectacular, but the Arctic also has an abundance of other fascinating creatures. Caribou, foxes, wolves, hares, black bears, owls and other bird life can find themselves in your camera lens. Did we mention the autumn colours? Booking now for 2018.

TWEEDSMUIR PARK LODGE

October in the Bella Coola Valley is the stuff of a storybook. The cool morning frost on the lawn is juxtaposed with sun caressing the distant peaks. It is quite possible that a Grizzly could lumber up towards the lodge. In fact, we really hope that one will, as it is such a thrill to see these wondrous creatures up close. And we never feel threatened, as we have learned so much about the bears from our expert guides. We just cannot wait to go for a walk on one of the many trails near Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.

SIWASH LAKE WILDERNESS RESORT

Put on your comfy plaid shirt, bring your singing voice (you won’t be judged) and settle in for a magical evening around the Siwash campfire. The adults can roast marshmallows too! We just had to close with another ‘Canadian Campfire’ photo and this image is an old favourite. Autumn in the Cariboo is truly a glorious time. Horse ride through the leaves, fish in the perfect morning light, and try your hand at a variety of other resort activities.
